An unusually powerful autumn storm hit the northeastern United States on the 27th, bringing strong winds and heavy rains, leaving tens of thousands of people without power. US media reported that one person died. At the same time, although Hurricane Nolo will not make landfall in Hawaii, it may still bring strong winds and sudden flooding.

Agence France-Presse reported that New York, Boston and Philadelphia in the northeastern United States are all in the path of the "Nor'easter" (named because the wind blows from the northeast). The authorities warned that severe flooding and road closures may occur.

The National Weather Service stated in its latest forecast that the storm continued to drop heavy rain while swirling offshore in the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England regions on the afternoon of the 26th. The storm was expected to move toward New Jersey and Long Island.

The Associated Press reported that the center of Nolo is located about 266 kilometers south-southwest of the southernmost tip of Hawaii. It is expected to strengthen into a severe hurricane from the evening of the 27th to the early morning of the 28th and move westward from the south of Hawaii.

The center of the hurricane is not expected to make direct landfall, but forecasters warn that its outer cloud bands may trigger life-threatening floods and landslides. It is expected that rainfall in some areas of the Big Island will reach about 510 mm, and other islands will also experience heavy rainfall.
