The Legislative Yuan will hold a vote on the Supervisory Yuan personnel consent case today. Due to the unanimous opposition of the Kuomintang League and the People's Party League, a total of 27 nominees, including the Supervisory Yuan Director Chen Yongxing, were all rejected. Presidential Office spokesperson Guo Yahui said that the president respects the results of the Legislative Yuan’s personnel consent review, but also expresses deep regret and concern.

Guo Yahui explained that the nomination of the Supervisory Committee this time was based on an open recruitment and rigorous selection process, taking into account candidates proposed in "professional fields", "human rights protection" and "local connections" to build the People's Supervisory Yuan. The 27 nominees are all social sages with outstanding reputations and profound education. They have made selfless contributions to public affairs and human rights protection for a long time. The President thanked them for their courage and hard work.

Guo Yahui emphasized that the Supervisory Yuan is the country’s highest supervisory organ. It exercises the power of impeachment, rectification and audit. It is an indispensable supervisory force for improving government governance, preventing corruption and protecting human rights. The result of today's exercise of the right to consent will bring investigation cases related to social justice and people's rights to a standstill. The Control Yuan and the National Human Rights Commission will continue to be idle, which is not what the Chinese people and the international community want to see.

Guo Yahui further stated that the government and the opposition should recognize their respective constitutional obligations, return to rational discussions, take national interests, constitutional order and the welfare of all people as the highest considerations, and jointly maintain the normal operation of democratic constitutional organs.
