Heavy rain in Sakarya: The stream overflowed, houses and roads were flooded

Due to the rain, the stream in Darıçayırı District in Karasu district overflowed. Those stranded in the area by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKİ) teams were rescued with the help of a scoop. Some houses, workplaces, agricultural lands and public buildings in the district were flooded.

Neighborhood resident Levent Çelik told reporters that there was a flood in the neighborhood in the morning.

Çelik stated that the water level was high and water drainage was difficult compared to previous years, and that approximately 60 households were affected by the flood.

In Serdivan district, transportation is controlled from one direction as a result of the dirt road slipping due to rainfall in the Aşağıdereköy District location of the D-100 highway in the direction of Istanbul.

In the region where security measures have been taken by the gendarmerie teams, work continues by the Highways teams.

Akyazı Municipality reported that the Kepekli Bridge on the Akyazı-Karapürçek road and the Yağcılar Bridge location on the Altındere-Akyazı road were closed to transportation after heavy rains.

Citizens were asked to use alternative routes and be sensitive to the directions of the teams in order to avoid victimization.

AN AVERAGE OF OVER 100 KILOGRAMS OF RAINFALLED PER SQUARE METER

In the statement made by SASKİ, it was stated that an average of over 100 kilograms of precipitation per square meter fell in the downpour that was effective in the city for 2 days.

In the statement, it was stated that 150 kilograms of rain fell per square meter in Ferizli, 133 in Adapazarı, 144 in Karapürçek, 129 in Akyazı and 126 kilograms in Hendek, and that 560 personnel and 225 vehicles intervened in the negative points.
