Passengers who are unemployed and looking for a new job are entitled to free public transport in São Paulo. Companies linked to the Metropolitan Transport Secretariat (STM), CPTM and Metrô, provide the Credential for Unemployed Workers, which grants the right to free travel in the metropolitan system.

People who have been unemployed for more than 30 days can have free access. To do this, it is necessary to request the Credential for Unemployed Workers on the rail system, which offers free integrated access to the CPTM and the Metro. The credentials are valid for 90 non-renewable days and are distributed to workers laid off for at least 30 days or a maximum of 180 days.

How to request the benefit

Requests can be made via the TOP website, an electronic ticketing service. To do this, simply fill out the form and send the following documents:

ID (or other official document with photo);

CPF;

Work card;

Address to receive the card;

Termination of the last employment contract or judicial ATA (referring to the last job);

Updated contribution statement (CNIS).

If approved, the card, valid for 90 days, will be sent within ten business days to the address provided and at no cost to the passenger.
