The City of Campinas (SP) granted 337 housing assistance benefits to victims of domestic violence since the creation of the program, in 2023, until August 2026.
According to the Municipal Department of Social Assistance, of the total number of women assisted during the period, 88.1% had at least one child, the majority of whom were under 6 years of age.
The data reveals that the offer of the benefit has grown in recent years. The number of aid paid from January to August 2026 exceeded the 12 months of last year.

Housing assistance is a temporary emergency benefit granted to victims who need to leave their home due to domestic violence. Women receive R$951 per month, for up to six consecutive months, and the amount must be used exclusively to pay rent.
Who are the women served
Of the women who have received assistance since the program was created, 297 are mothers and a total of 718 registered children/dependents – of which 83% are under 18 years of age.
0 to 6 years: 254
7 to 12 years old: 215
13 to 17 years old: 127
18 years and over: 122
The survey also indicates that the largest portion of the benefit is concentrated among women aged 30 to 39 (34.4%). The 20 to 49 age group represents 88.1% of the total number of people served.
In terms of color, 60.2% of the 337 beneficiaries throughout the period are black (black and brown).

How to access housing assistance in Campinas
The benefit is exclusive to women in situations of violence monitored by the Specialized Reference Centers for Social Assistance (Creas) and the Sara-M Shelter.
To receive it, you must:
submit a police report;
prove social vulnerability;
be forwarded by the social assistance network.
Identity document with photo and CPF are also required, as well as proof of address.
Other cities
The São Paulo State Department of Social Development (SEDS) also provides rental assistance to victims of domestic violence. The program offers a monthly stipend of R$500 for six months, with the possibility of renewal for the same period.
In the Campinas region, 19 municipalities joined the program. Since the creation of the program, in February 2025, until August 2026, 448 benefits were granted in the region, according to information sent by the ministry.
"Breaking the cycle of domestic violence requires more than courage, it requires real support and concrete conditions for a safe start again. Rent assistance, in addition to important financial support, is a tool of autonomy and dignity so that these women can rewrite their stories away from fear", says the Secretary of Social Development, Andrezza Rosalém.
To request the benefit, you must present:
CPF;
updated proof of residence in the State of São Paulo;
copy of the urgent protective measure issued by the Judiciary (Maria da Penha Law);
proof of income that demonstrates that the family income, until the separation, was up to two minimum wages;
proof of social vulnerability (such as an updated CadÚnico number or psychosocial report).
Registration is carried out by the municipal social assistance network in the participating municipalities. After analysis and approval, the amount is made available through Social Savings at Banco do Brasil, directly to the beneficiaries.
In addition to financial support, the program articulates other municipal public policies, expanding access to social protection, guidance and monitoring services for women served throughout the state.
