Yongkang is the most populous administrative district in Tainan. The rezoning of Datong City with an area of more than 3.7 hectares started today. It took nearly five years from planning to construction. After completion, public facilities such as parks, roads, and flood detention will be added to improve the local living and living environment.

When presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony, Tainan Mayor Huang Weizhe said that the project has gone through procedures such as the declassification of public facility reservations, urban planning, and city land rezoning. While taking into account public construction and the rights and interests of landowners, the smooth groundbreaking can improve land use and the overall environment, creating a win-win situation for both the public and private sectors. The project funding reaches 150 million yuan and is expected to be completed in 2028.

Huang Weizhe pointed out that Yongkang is currently the most populous administrative district in Tainan. In response to urban development, the demand for public facilities and housing has also increased. The city government continues to supplement roads, parks and other public facilities through land revitalization and public land rezoning, and strengthens flood control functions to improve the regional living environment.

Municipal Land Director Chen Shumei said that the total development area of the project is about 3.714 hectares, of which the residential area is about 2.332 hectares, accounting for 62.79%; the public facilities land is about 1.382 hectares, accounting for 37.21%, including 0.644 hectares of road land and park land. The land for the children's playground is 0.738 hectares; after the rezoning, in addition to opening up roads and parks, a flood detention pond will also be set up in the park with a flood detention volume of 4,180 cubic meters. Parking spaces for cars and motorcycles will also be planned, and land will be reserved for an activity center to take into account flood control, parking and public service needs.

Chen Shumei mentioned that a major feature of the case is to deorganize the "Wen Primary School 5" school land that has not been developed for many years and has no need for a school, and to incorporate it into the overall rezoning together with the surrounding market and park land. Before the rezoning, the land in the area was mostly used for low-density uses such as iron sheet factories, resource recycling plants, car washes, and vacant land. In the future, the land for residential and public facilities will be reallocated to improve land use efficiency.
