Diyanet Published Provincial Muftis Appointment Decree: Changes in Gümüşhane, Giresun, Rize, Van and Bitlis

The Provincial Muftis Appointment Decree prepared by the Presidency of Religious Affairs was published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Within the scope of the Presidential Decree No. 2026/279, in accordance with the 2nd article of the Presidential Decree No. 3, the mufti offices of 35 provinces across Türkiye were changed.

FARUK GÜRBÜZ TO GUMUSHANE

With the decree, Gümüşhane Provincial Mufti Dr. Hayri Erenay was appointed as Nevşehir Provincial Mufti. Karaman Provincial Mufti Faruk Gürbüz was appointed as Gümüşhane Provincial Mufti, which was vacated by Erenay.

Born in Van in 1963, Gürbüz graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Theology. Gürbüz previously served as Gürpınar, Patnos and Edremit district mufti and Van Provincial Deputy Mufti. After serving as Hakkari and Karaman provincial muftis, his new place of duty was Gümüşhane.

NEW NAMES IN GİRESUN AND RIZE

Giresun Provincial Mufti Selçuk Kılıçbay was appointed as Bolu Provincial Mufti, while Hakkari Provincial Mufti Hüseyin Okuş was appointed as Giresun Provincial Mufti.

In Rize, there was a mutual exchange of duties. While Rize Provincial Mufti Naci Çakmakçı was appointed as Yalova Provincial Mufti, Yalova Provincial Mufti İlyas Yılmaztürk became the new mufti of Rize Provincial Mufti.

CHANGE IN VAN AND BITLIS

Within the scope of the decree, Van Provincial Mufti Dr. Mehmet Sırrı Şık was also appointed as Şanlıurfa Provincial Mufti.

While Bitlis Provincial Mufti Kadir Koçak was appointed as Van Provincial Mufti, it was announced that a new appointment would be made to Bitlis Provincial Mufti.

The appointed muftis are expected to start working in their new positions in the coming days.
