Two police clashes result in deaths in Amapá in less than 24 hours

According to the police, the suspect had a warrant for his arrest for murder and was on the run from the Amapá Penitentiary Administration Institute (Iapen). He was located after reports that he was traveling around the region carrying a firearm.

Upon seeing the police, the man allegedly ran into an establishment and pulled out a gun towards the police. According to the police, the agents shot the man after he threatened the team with his gun drawn.

A team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called, but the man did not resist and died at the scene. The Amapá Scientific Police (PCA) removed the body.

The police reported that the man had several police reports, mainly for threatening traders with a firearm. In one of the cases, workers from the Anauerapucu community were targets of extortion.

The Civil Police will investigate the action, which was supported by the Shock Battalion.

This is the second police clash recorded in Amapá in less than 24 hours. On Tuesday night (22) a young man died after exchanging gunfire with Bope, in the South Zone of Macapá.

"Our operations aim to provide peace of mind to society. In 24 hours, we remove people who encourage crime from social life, whether through trafficking or the terror they impose on people", declared the BOPE commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Wilkson de Araújo.

According to the Amapá Military Police, the young man had a history of participating in several robberies in the capital. The confrontation occurred around 9 pm in an area of ​​bridges.

The team from Bope's Ostensive Rapid Intervention Group (Giro) went to the scene after the Military Police Intelligence Service (Sipom) reported the presence of armed men involved in drug trafficking and robberies.

The suspects fled towards a flooded area and abandoned a bag with portions of drugs, a precision scale and packaging for narcotics.

The police advanced through the flooded area and were met with gunfire again. There was a confrontation and one of the suspects was shot. The Integrated Social Defense Operations Center (Ciodes) called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), which was at the scene and confirmed the death.
