Family drama in Gy: the funeral of the two children will take place on Tuesday

The affair had plunged this small town of around 1,000 inhabitants into “deep sadness”, the mayor said on Thursday the day after the macabre discovery. This Sunday, still “in these particularly painful circumstances”, the municipality published a new press release on its social networks, announcing the date of the funerals of the two children found dead in Gy, in Haute-Saône. The religious ceremony will take place Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Saint-Symphorien church in Gy. The town hall, in a message published on Facebook, “thanks everyone for showing respect, dignity, sobriety and kindness to accompany the family and loved ones”. A white march will also be organized, the modalities of which will be “defined later in consultation” with the family.

The two little boys, aged 6 and 10, their father, 42, and their maternal grandmother aged 74 were found dead on Wednesday evening at the home of the family, who lived in a bungalow located next to their house under construction, on the heights of Gy, a town located about thirty kilometers from Besançon.

A couple going through a divorce

Autopsies performed Friday determined that both children were killed by a single gunshot. The father's death was also due to a single gunshot to the chin.

The children's grandmother died of a "major hemorrhage, following three stab wounds", the prosecutor, Arnaud Grécourt, said in a press release on Saturday, referring to the blows of "great violence". The forensic doctor also noted bruises and traces of strangulation on the body of the septuagenarian.

“The preferred hypothesis at this stage of the investigation is that the father, in the process of separating, would have killed the three other people before turning the weapon against himself,” according to the prosecutor.
