Funeral of the two children found dead in Gy

“Respect” and “sobriety” will be the key words on Tuesday in Gy. The funerals of the two children found dead alongside their father suspected of having killed them will be organized there on Tuesday, the town hall announced on Sunday.

The religious ceremony will take place Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Saint-Symphorien church in Gy, the town hall said in a message on Facebook. The municipality added that it would organize a white march, the details of which (date, time, route) will be “defined later in consultation” with the family.

“In these particularly painful circumstances, the municipality thanks everyone for showing respect, dignity, sobriety and kindness to support the family and loved ones,” it is added.

Gun shot

The two little boys, aged 6 and 10, their father, 42, and their maternal grandmother aged 74 were found dead Wednesday evening at the home of the family, who lived in a bungalow located next to their house under construction, on the heights of Gy (Haute-Saône), a town located about thirty kilometers from Besançon.

Autopsies performed Friday determined that the two children were killed by a single gunshot. The death of the father was also due to a single gunshot to the chin.

The children's grandmother died of a "major hemorrhage, following three stab wounds", the prosecutor, Arnaud Grécourt, said in a press release on Saturday, referring to the blows of "great violence". The forensic doctor also noted bruises and traces of strangulation on the body of the septuagenarian. “The preferred hypothesis at this stage of the investigation is that the father, in the process of separating, would have killed the three other people before turning the weapon against himself,” according to the prosecutor.
