Nearly 200 people attended the opening ceremony, including officials from the consulates general of 24 countries in Shanghai, representatives of 9 international organizations, representatives of international sister city delegations and entrepreneurs, foreign friends, and youth representatives.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the successful hosting of the G20 Hangzhou Summit. With the theme of "Digital Intelligence Empowerment Starts a New Chapter, Openness and Inclusion for the Future", this year's Hangzhou International Day is based on Hangzhou's first-mover advantages in digital economy and artificial intelligence industry characteristics, and demonstrates Hangzhou's responsibility and practical achievements in building a world-class socialist modern international metropolis, striving to become the first city in artificial intelligence innovation and development, and creating a city with higher level of innovation and vitality.
In his speech, Marcelo Marron, head of the foreign consular mission in Shanghai and Consul General of Uruguay in Shanghai, highly affirmed Hangzhou's international development achievements and inclusive and open urban structure, and fully recognized Hangzhou's global leading advantages in the fields of digital economy, technological innovation, urban governance, and cultural exchanges. He encouraged the consulates of various countries in Shanghai to continue to deepen practical cooperation in multiple fields with Hangzhou, build closer communication bridges, share urban development opportunities, and jointly build international bonds of friendship.
As the seat of the Secretariat of the Belt and Road Local Cooperation Committee (BRLC), Hangzhou continues to expand the “circle of friends” for international cooperation and upgrade the level of cooperation platforms. This year's Hangzhou International Day welcomes five new members, namely the Valpolicella Tourism Region of Italy, the National Association of Local Governments of Georgia, the H Farm Institute of Italy, the Milan Fashion Institute of Italy, and the ASEAN Entrepreneurs Association of Thailand, further enriching the BRLC cooperation format and broadening the dimensions of economic and trade, education, cultural and creative, and talent exchange cooperation.
A number of international cooperation project signings were also held at the scene: Yuhang District of Hangzhou and the city of Auburn in the United States renewed the friendly exchange city agreement to continue to deepen the normal cultural exchanges, economic and trade interaction and mutual learning of urban governance experience between the two places; the Nantes Institute of Design of the China Academy of Art (France) and the Hangzhou Yinglan Center The signing was signed to deepen the collaborative cooperation between China and France in the fields of art design, cultural and creative industries, and international aesthetic education; Hangzhou Talent Group and the China-Europe Digital Association reached a cooperation intention to focus on digital industry exchanges, international talent introduction and education, and docking of scientific and technological innovation projects to help Hangzhou build an international talent highland and a digital open hub.
