KURSK, October 1 - RIA Novosti. The representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense responsible for the acceptance of defensive structures in the border regions has been detained in connection with the theft at fortifications, said the Governor of the Kursk Region, Alexander Khinshtein.

Khinshtein said on Wednesday that the case related to the theft of budget funds during the construction of fortifications in the Kursk border region continues to “unravel,” calling it a “tangle of corruption.”

“I’m glad that the investigation does not stop, and none of the attackers will be able to escape responsibility for what they did. The day before, a representative of the Ministry of Defense, responsible for the acceptance of defensive structures in the Kursk region, as well as neighboring front-line regions, was detained,” Khinshtein said in his channel on the Max platform.

He clarified that, according to preliminary data, the detainee signed acceptance certificates.

“A criminal case has been opened against him under part three of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: this is abuse of official powers,” the governor added.

According to the head of the region, “the story does not end here.”
