"The beginning is simple and the end is huge" - Dong Biwu's handwriting exhibition Jilin Province tour was launched at Jilin Provincial Museum

China News Service, Changchun, September 23 (Tan Weiqi Jin Qiao) On the 22nd, the Dong Biwu Handwriting Exhibition Jilin Province Tour, "Starting with simplicity and ending with greatness", co-sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Jilin Provincial Party Committee and the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism (Jilin Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau), was launched at the Jilin Provincial Museum.

This year marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Dong Biwu. Comrade Dong Biwu is one of the founders of the Communist Party of China and one of the founders of the People's Republic of China. He is an outstanding proletarian revolutionary, Marxist politician and jurist. He is a member of the first generation leadership group of the Communist Party of China and an important leader of the country. The handwriting exhibition has launched a nationwide tour in August 2021 and has been held in 26 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities). This is the 36th stop.

This exhibition is one of a series of themed activities in Jilin Province to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March. A total of 63 exhibits are on display, including 6 original works of art and 57 copies of calligraphy. Most of the originals are national cultural relics. Most of the exhibits were inscribed by Dong Biwu when he inspected various places, and some were retained by his family members. They include the Long March-themed exhibit "Qilu·Long March" and two handwritings reflecting the Jilin region, "Tonghua Winery" and "Changchun Film Studio".

According to Dong Biwu’s grandson Dong Shaoxin, Dong Biwu visited Jilin twice for inspections and visited Changying, Songhua Lake, Tonghua, Yanji and other places, leaving behind many poems praising Jilin’s scenery and recording local construction. Returning to Jilin with the handwriting of our ancestors this time is a deep remembrance of the older generation of revolutionaries.

Dong Shaoxin introduced that the exhibits record Dong Biwu’s more than sixty-year revolutionary career and reflect the magnificent course of national liberation and socialist construction. The exhibits are scattered among more than 50 cultural and museum institutions and individuals, so it is rare to be able to display them together.
