A small truck collided with a motorcycle on Yangde Avenue in Yangmingshan, and the rider was seriously injured and his life was in danger

A horrific car accident occurred late yesterday night on Yangde Avenue in Yangmingshan, Taipei City. A man surnamed Zhang who was driving a pickup truck going down the mountain was overtaking another vehicle when he crossed the restriction line and collided with a motorcycle rider surnamed Shen who was heading up the mountain. The man was hit and flew several meters away. The motorcycle was also bent in half due to the head-on impact. He was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment and his life was in danger. The entire case is currently under investigation by the police.

The Traffic Detachment of the Shilin Branch of the Bei City Police said that at about 11 o'clock yesterday night, a 39-year-old man named Zhang drove a rental pickup truck downhill along the fourth section of Yangde Avenue. When overtaking across the dividing line, he collided head-on with a 23-year-old man Shen who was riding a motorcycle in the opposite direction and was heading uphill.

The motorcycle rider surnamed Shen was hit by the impact and rolled several meters away before landing. He was bleeding all over the ground on the spot. The parts of the motorcycle were scattered on the ground, and the motorcycle almost broke in half due to the violent impact. When the police reported that Mr. Shen had no breathing or heartbeat, he was immediately sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. However, due to his serious injuries, his life was in danger.

The police found that Mr. Zhang, who was responsible for the accident, suffered abrasions on his limbs. He tested positive for alcohol and found no evidence of drunk driving. He also passed a rapid drug screen and found no evidence of drug driving. As for the exact cause of the accident, the police will conduct further investigations to clarify.
