Haman-gun promotes free agricultural machinery delivery service for elderly and female farmers

Haman = Yonhap News) Reporter Park Young-min = Haman-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 27th that it is pursuing a project to deliver rental agricultural machinery to elderly and female farmers for free to farm fields or homes.

Starting on the 3rd of next month, the county plans to start a round-trip delivery service for agricultural machinery using 1-ton trucks and manpower from three agricultural machinery rental offices in the Gaya region, Samchil region (Chilwon, Chilseo, and Chilbuk), and the central region.

The purpose is to increase the convenience of use for farmers who have difficulty transporting heavy agricultural machinery by visiting rental offices directly in line with the aging of farmers.

Those eligible for use are farmers and female farmers aged 70 or older who have been members of the agricultural machinery rental office for more than a year among Haman-gun residents.

Of the 2,699 members of the county rental office this year, 1,023 are over 70 years old, or about 38%. There are 191 female members, or about 7%.

The agricultural machinery being delivered is 13 types of small and medium-sized ones, including excavators, management machines, power threshers, weeders, and shredders that can be loaded on a 1-ton truck.

Agricultural machinery is transported from the rental office to the farm field or home and collected when finished.

Delivery and collection are free, but agricultural machinery rental must be paid separately.

At the delivery site, we plan to provide guidance on safe use of agricultural machinery and simple operation methods.

A military official said, “Considering the increasing number of elderly farmers in the region, we decided that a policy for them was necessary,” and added, “We will help alleviate some of the hardships of farmers through nearby rental offices.”
