Wonju City announced on the 18th that it successfully concluded the 63rd Farmers' Day Commemoration Wonju Samto Festival held in the Wonju Sports Complex from the 11th to the 13th in cooperation with the Korea Rural Leadership and Resource Management Association.

The festival focused on promoting the history and agricultural values ​​of Wonju, the birthplace of Farmers' Day, under the theme of 'Seeing, Eating, and Enjoying Together Samto!'

In particular, we operated a direct trading market that sold agricultural specialties produced by local farmers directly to citizens, helping to expand sales channels and promote agricultural specialties.

On-site sales through sales of agricultural specialty products and experience/sales booths were estimated at approximately 400 million won.

Citizen participation programs such as agricultural experiences, food, and performances were also expanded, allowing people of all ages, from children to the elderly, to enjoy the festival.

Samto Singing Contest, Youth Talent Contest, Samto Senior Model Selection Contest, and Samto Concert were also held.

In the daily life club competition, clubs active in the region went on stage and performed with citizens.

The city was evaluated as having promoted the value of agriculture in a friendly way by moving away from agricultural festivals centered on exhibitions and sales and strengthening programs in which citizens can directly experience and participate.

The 'Samto' (三土) of the Samto Festival contains the meaning of the letter 'To' (土) overlapping three times, and Wonju is the birthplace of Farmers' Day.

Kim Jun-hee, director of the Wonju City Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We will expand programs in which farmers and citizens participate together to promote the value of agriculture and strive to revitalize local agriculture."
