State deputy Amilton Filho is buried in Anápolis after accident on BR-050

The body of state deputy Amilton Filho (MDB), aged 41, who died in an accident on BR-050, was buried under strong commotion in the São Miguel cemetery, in Anápolis, this Saturday (26). The body was transported in a Fire Department truck during the procession. Family, friends and colleagues participated in the farewell and paid tribute to the deputy with yellow balloons (see above).

Amilton died after being involved in a traffic accident while heading to a campaign agenda this Saturday (26), on BR-050, in Cristalina, according to the Legislative Assembly of the State of Goiás (Alego).

A resident of Anápolis, the deputy was married and left two children. He was running for re-election and chaired the Constitution, Justice and Writing Committee, a role he had held for two years. After the death, the president of Alego, deputy Bruno Peixoto (UB), declared five days of official mourning in the Legislative Branch.

Understand the case

The vehicle in which Amilton was traveling crashed into a trailer on BR-050. According to the Fire Department, the deputy died at the scene. A video recorded in the area of ​​the accident shows the condition of the car after the crash (see above).

Also according to the military, two other people who were in the car, the driver and Amilton's videographer, were taken to the Chaud Salles Municipal Hospital, in Cristalina. Both were medically discharged.

In a statement, the City of Anápolis stated that Amilton built an exemplary career of dedication to public service.

"In Anápolis, he served with brilliance and commitment as a councilor and president of the Anápolis City Council, always working for the well-being of the population and the development of our municipality. In the Legislative Assembly of Goiás, he remained firm as a tireless defender of the demands of Anápolis and the entire region", stated the municipal management.

The deputy's death provoked commotion among colleagues and political allies. Ronaldo Caiado (PSD), candidate for President of the Republic, suspended campaign commitments. The agendas of deputies and candidates Antonio Gomide (PT), Charles Bento (MDB) and Cristiano Galindo (SD) were also interrupted due to mourning.

"Amilton is a boy who was 41 years old, at the height of his professional life, at the height of his personal life, family life and, mainly, in his life, in his political career. A competent lawyer, a tragedy for his family, especially for his wife, for the young children he leaves behind", said his father, Amilton Batista de Faria, in an interview with TV Anhanguera.
