Eduardo Bolsonaro calls for the return of US sanctions against Judge Moraes and supports Kayath for the Ministry of Finance

Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, will propose again in Washington next week the request for the United States to reintroduce sanctions against Federal Supreme Court (Stf) judge Alexandre de Moraes provided for by the Global Magnitsky Act. He told Reuters, without providing details on his agenda. Eduardo Bolsonaro also indicated the investor and former banker Marcelo Kayath as "an excellent choice" for the Ministry of Finance in the event of his brother Flávio Bolsonaro's victory in the presidential elections in October.

Kayath, founder of consultancy Qms Capital, worked for two decades at Credit Suisse, where he was managing director for Latin America. Eduardo Bolsonaro said he had met him four times and shared a "convergence of views" with him on various issues, specifying however that no decision had been made and that other candidates remained under consideration. Kayath said he wanted to contribute to a sustainable growth agenda, with "surgical, not indiscriminate" public spending interventions, while preserving social programs.
