The Ministry of Social Rights announces the 2026-2027 Imserso travel season

The Ministry of Social Rights has announced today in León the start of the 2026-2027 Imserso travel season and has communicated the results regarding the flat rate of 50 euros for the 2025-2026 season: 5,221 pensioners who receive a benefit equal to or less than the amount of non-contributory disability or retirement pensions from Social Security benefited from it, that is, ten times more than with the application of the discount of the 50% of the 2024-2025 season. This fixed price was applied regardless of the destination and Imserso was the one that assumed the remaining cost of the trip. In his speech, Minister Pablo Bustinduy described the measure as "an important social impact."

For the new campaign, the Ministry has reserved a total of 7,447 seats to travel with this flat rate to consolidate the measure. In fact, in Spain there are a total of 4,602,255 people accredited to request and access these trips, although around 900,000 will be offered.

To this end, from September 14 to 18, applicants will be able to reserve only the trips assigned to the quota in their own province and, as of September 19, the reservation will be opened for any vacant place in other provinces. The first trips will begin on October 1 to Oropesa (Toledo) and, for accreditation, it can be done online for peninsular coastal and getaway tourism or by using authorized travel agencies.

The almost 900,000 places offered by the Ministry of Social Rights are divided into three large blocks: 440,284 for beach and coastal destinations in mainland Spain, 228,142 for trips to the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands and 210,787 for getaway tourism, including cultural circuits, natural enclaves, visits to provincial capitals, as well as to Ceuta and Melilla and trips of European origin. In addition, for peninsular and island destinations the option will continue to be activated so that pensioners can travel accompanied by their pets. To prevent trips from being concentrated on a few dates, 36% of the places in each lot will be distributed proportionally each month.

The claim of the Valencian hotels

The employers' association of the hotel sector of the Valencian Community, Hosbec, issued a statement last Monday in which it demanded to review the economic conditions of the Imserso social tourism program. According to the organization, "the CPI of the first year of the program is going to be close to 5%, while the price per person and day that the Ministry offers to hotels for the Imserso program remains practically frozen and the user contribution is not reviewed either."
