Emma Bonino hospitalized at Santo Spirito for respiratory crisis, transferred to intensive care

Condition: "Alert and lucid"

Taking stock of the senator's condition is the attending physician Claudio Santini, who is in constant contact with the Santo Spirito doctors. "Emma Bonino is currently in the emergency room of the Santo Spirito Hospital in Rome. Investigations and an evaluation of her parameters are underway following a worsening of her respiratory function. She remains alert and lucid", he reported.

The radical leader arrived at the emergency room around 6pm due to a respiratory crisis. Around 8pm the doctors decided to transfer her to intensive care, as a precaution, to keep her parameters under control during the night.

Previous hospitalizations

It is not Bonino's first hospitalization at Santo Spirito. The previous one dates back to the beginning of 2025, after an illness: in that case intensive care was necessary because she was found to have respiratory failure. Once stabilized, the following day the senator was transferred to San Filippo Neri. The hospitalization lasted a week, at the end of which the former minister returned home. Even earlier, in October 2024, she had been taken care of by the same hospital in the historic center for respiratory problems, also on that occasion with intensive care.
