Osman Demirtaşlar, who was appointed as a shooting instructor after serving in different units in the police force, serves in a special instructor staff of 14 people. Demirtaşlar, who started his career in 2003 and has been an instructor for 16 years, provides training to his colleagues on advanced operational shooting, residential areas, building and vehicle operations and vehicle evacuation.
Osman Demirtaşlar, who has been participating in IDPA competitions professionally for 4 years, came first in the championship in Poland, competing against police, soldiers and athletes with world and European degrees. Demirtaş, who made around 250 shots in the day-long competition consisting of different courses, represented the Turkish police in Europe with his success.
TRAINS 20 THOUSAND PERSONNEL A YEAR
Stating that he has been a trainer for 16 years, Osman Demirtaşlar said, "I provide advanced operational training, building, vehicle operations and similar training to our colleagues. Approximately 6,400 personnel attend our training every four months. This number reaches 20 thousand personnel annually. Apart from this, we provide more comprehensive courses to our young colleagues who are new to the profession. We provide detailed training on subjects such as residential area operations, in-vehicle movement styles and vehicle evacuation."
HE HAS REPRESENTED Türkiye ON THE WORLD STAGE FOR 4 YEARS
Stating that he has been a professional IDPA athlete for 4 years, Demirtaşlar said, "The most important reason why I chose IDPA is that I can directly associate the sport I do with my profession. This sport has contributed greatly to my duty and teaching. We participated in the European Championship held in Poland. Soldiers, police officers, special forces personnel and very strong athletes took part in the competition. We became the European champion in the 'Military' category. Next up is the Balkan Championship to be held in Hungary. To show our tactical and operational shooting ability as the Turkish police, "We want to demonstrate on behalf of our organization and our nation how good we are in this field," he said.

Stating that he wants to carry the Turkish flag to the top by participating in competitions abroad, Osman Demirtaşlar said: "While we strive to improve the shooting skills of our personnel here, we also want to represent our flag in the best way abroad and contribute to the reputation of the Turkish police. The main thing for us is the continuity of the system and carrying the current quality to much higher levels. For this reason, it is very important to identify young, determined and hard-working personnel, train them as instructors and transfer this mission to them. I wish new athletes and successful colleagues to follow us."

Stating that he improved himself in every field as he participated in competitions, police officer Demirtaşlar said, "It provides significant benefits in areas such as adapting to the current situation in armed conflict environments that may be encountered during duty, hitting targets quickly and accurately, evaluating the area and environmental awareness. I believe that we can make serious progress if this sport becomes more widespread among law enforcement personnel. We will continue to work to progress further on behalf of our organization and our country."
