England's Konsa and O'Reilly doubtful for Czech Republic Nations League clash

Ezri Konsa and Nico O'Reilly are both doubts to play in England's Nations League match against the Czech Republic on Tuesday night.

The pair were the only two members of the England squad to miss training on Monday morning, with the players following their own individual programmes.

Both played the full 90 minutes in England's 3-2 loss to Spain on Saturday.

And Thomas Tuchel does not yet know if the two players will be available for the match.

"I'm not sure yet, they missed training, so that's what you saw, because of minor issues, but there are still issues and they need to be assessed and take a decision tomorrow morning," Tuchel said.

Manchester City's O'Reilly started at left-back, a position he made his own during the World Cup, and his absence would open an opportunity for Lewis Hall to play.

It was O'Reilly's mistake which led to Alex Baena drawing Spain level at 2-2 at Wembley before the World Cup winners went on to claim victory.

Arsenal centre-back Konsa has become one of Tuchel's most trusted players and started seven of the eight matches at the World Cup.

Central defender Jarrad Branthwaite came on for Marc Guehi late on against Spain and could be a contender to start if Konsa is unavailable.

England play four matches in this international window and, after the loss to Spain, take on the Czech Republic both home and away, either side of travelling to Rijeka to play Croatia.

Before the loss to Spain at Wembley on Saturday, there was a lot of debate about England's style of play and identity.

Barcelona forward Anthony Gordon said the Three Lions should play a more traditional way, while Tuchel said he may start to "embrace the chaos".

England came from behind to lead Spain 2-1, with Harry Kane then missing a penalty before the world champions scored twice to win the match 3-2.

"I think we showed our style, and showed our courage and identity - they showed it throughout the 90 minutes," said Tuchel.

"I think we were a valid part of a very good football match overall, over 90 minutes both teams showed our quality.

"We caused ourselves some problems with individual mistakes. It should not happen, but it happened.

"But I think we played our way, and we encouraged the players to play their way, and the way they want to play."

The matches England are playing in the Nations League come in the new format of an international break which will bring the team together for three weeks.

And Tuchel, who has to prepare the players for four games in 11 days, said he has found having the matches in a short period of time difficult.

"I find this format now even more challenging than any other format, I have to say, a lot of travelling and playing twice within only two days of rest in between and then flying and a change of pitches," added the German.

"I think the change of training in itself, the change of training style, the change of style of play, sometimes the change of position for a player between national team and club brings its own risks for injury, and I think this format is my feeling at the moment, it increases it more than decreases."
