WHO IS ENVER ALTAYLI?

Enver Altaylı was born on November 1, 1944 in Ceyhan district of Adana. Known as a Sovietologist and former intelligence officer, Altaylı studied at Ankara University Faculty of Law. He also studied Eastern European law and Sovietology in Germany and Austria.

ENVER ALTAYLI'S CAREER AND LIFE

Altaylı, who started working at MIT in 1968, specialized in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. It is stated that Altaylı was recruited to MİT in 1968 and was trained as the institution's first Sovietologist.

Altaylı, who left MİT in 1974, took part in the organization of MHP in Germany. He was the editor-in-chief of MHP's media organ, Hergün newspaper. He went to Germany after an arrest warrant was issued for him after the September 12 Coup.

Altaylı, who also continues his work as a writer, has books titled 90 Days in the Captive Turkish Provinces, Communist Theories and the Politics of Soviet Expansion, and Ruzi Nazar: CIA's Turkish Spy.

Altaylı's judicial process also received wide public coverage. On November 8, 2021, Ankara 16th High Criminal Court sentenced Altaylı to 13 years and 4 months in prison for "political and military espionage" and 10 years in prison for "membership in an armed terrorist organization", for a total of 23 years and 4 months. The decision was later reviewed on appeal.

Within the scope of the investigation into the death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu in prison, former intelligence officer and FETO convict Enver Altaylı, who testified as a 'suspect', was referred to the court with a request for arrest on the charge of 'intentional incitement to murder'. According to the latest development, Enver Altaylı was arrested.

The investigation carried out by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the suspicious death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who died in Silivri Prison in 2011, continues. Former intelligence officer and FETO convict Enver Altaylı, whose statement will be taken as a 'suspect' within the scope of the investigation, was brought to Silivri Courthouse from the prison where he was detained.
