70 percent of EspressoLab's shares are sold to Mair Group

An agreement was reached for the sale of 70 percent of EspressoLab, one of the largest coffee chains in Türkiye, to Mair Group, an investment and strategy company based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). No statement was made regarding the sales price of the agreement between the company's founder and boss Esat Kocadağ and Mair Group.

According to the news in CNBC Arabia, the approval of the regulatory authorities in Türkiye and the UAE is required to complete the sale of EspressoLab, which has over 400 branches in 21 countries. Once the necessary permits are obtained, control over the company will pass to Mair Group.

In his statement regarding the agreement, EspressoLab CEO Esat Kocadağ said, "Our partnership with Mair Group represents an important next step in Espressolab's international growth. Together, we aim to strengthen our franchise network, invest in the brand and customer experience, and grow in existing and new markets while preserving the identity and entrepreneurial culture that defines Espressolab."

Mair Group General Manager and Group CEO Nehayan Hamad Alameri made the following statement about the agreement:

This transaction represents an important step for MAIR Group to diversify its investment portfolio. We are expanding our strategy beyond our core retail and commercial real estate activities in the UAE into a well-established and internationally recognized consumer brand with a scalable and franchise-driven model. The transaction also creates strategic synergies by bringing together Espressolab's international reach and brand capabilities with MAIR Group's investment and organizational strength.

“We look forward to partnering with Espressolab's founders and management team to support the company's continued growth in Turkey and international markets, while also creating long-term value for our shareholders.”

EspressoLab came to the fore during the protests that started on March 19, 2025, after the detention of many people, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

CHP Chairman of the period, Özgür Özel, called for a boycott from citizens during the protests and announced EspressoLab at the top of the boycott list.

After the boycott call, there was a long-term debate between EspressoLab and CHP. In October 2025, Özel announced that EspressoLab was removed from the CHP's corporate boycott list. Özel stated that the profits from the company's stores on university campuses will be transferred to the fund created for students who suffered losses during the March 19 period.

After Özel announced that the boycott had been lifted, EspressoLab announced that it had withdrawn the compensation lawsuits it filed against social media users who posted against him.
