Euroclear Bank filed a cassation appeal against the decision to recover 200 billion euros in a lawsuit filed by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation

Euroclear Bank, simultaneously with the cassation appeal against the judicial acts of the Russian arbitration courts of two instances on the recovery of about 200 billion euros in damages from the Bank of Russia, sent to the Moscow Arbitration Court a petition to suspend the execution of these judicial acts, the press service of the court told RIA Novosti.

“Together with the cassation appeal, the defendant filed a petition to suspend the execution of the decision,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

The complaint and petition were received on September 24 at the first instance - the Moscow Arbitration Court. They, along with the case materials, will be transferred for consideration to the arbitration court of the Moscow District.

On May 15, the court of first instance fully satisfied the claim of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation against Euroclear, collecting losses from the defendant in seven currencies in a total amount of about 200 billion euros. The Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal rejected Euroclear Bank's appeal against this decision in July, and it entered into force.

Prior to this, on May 26, the Moscow Arbitration Court, at the request of the Bank of Russia, turned the decision for immediate execution, and on June 2, it issued a writ of execution to the Bank of Russia for its forced execution.
