European Aquatics management will visit Russia in mid-October to discuss the possible holding of the 2028 European Aquatics Championships in Kazan. This was reported by Sport Express with reference to the Minister of Sports of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov.

Representatives of the European Federation will come to Moscow and Kazan to discuss the details of the tournament. The 2028 championship is currently on the European Aquatics calendar, but the final decision will be made after negotiations.

“We will communicate with them on the topic of 2028. While the championship, as I stated, on the calendar is more a decision of the management of European Aquatics, there is more than one person making decisions. Let’s listen, talk, we are ready,” TASS quotes Leonov.

The minister emphasized Tatarstan’s interest in hosting the competition: “We are interested in the European Championship returning to Russia, to Kazan, after a long break. But the decision is not ours, but the European Federation’s.”
