Brazilian army coordinates exercise to combat cyber attacks

This week, the Brazilian Army coordinates an exercise, with the aim of preparing the country to face cyber attacks. The simulation is promoted by the force's Cyber ​​Defense Command, in partnership with the Navy and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).

The action takes place between this Monday (21st) and Friday (25th), simultaneously in Brasília and in six other cities:

Rio de Janeiro;

Manaus;

Bethlehem;

Reef;

São Paulo;

Curitiba.

It is the eighth edition of the exercise, called Cyber ​​Guardian, which will integrate the armed forces, government bodies, regulatory bodies and operators of strategic infrastructures such as water supply, energy, telecommunications and the financial market. There will be more than 1,300 participants from 300 organizations, as well as representatives from 14 other countries.

Exercise participants will face complex and coordinated attack scenarios in digital systems similar to those used by the organizations involved in the simulation. The idea is to strengthen the national system, validating contingency plans in the face of these cyber attacks.

According to the Army, cybernetics is one of the three strategic sectors defined by the National Defense Strategy (END). The segment involves computerized systems that operate computers, radios and radars, in addition to combat vehicles and anti-aircraft defense.

"By bringing together several civil and military institutions, the Cyber ​​Guardian Exercise becomes a milestone of preparation and integration, reaffirming the importance of collective commitment to national security and sovereignty", informs the Army, in a note.
