Zheng Boqi, a non-party city council candidate in Taichung City, was searched and found to be involved in election bribery with Zhuangjiao, surnamed Yang. Tens of millions of cash and bird's nests were found at Yang's residence. The court ruled that Zhuangjiao could not be held in custody and Zheng Boqi posted a bail of NT$100,000. The Central Prosecutor's Office today refused to accept the ruling and formally filed a protest.

The Taichung District Prosecutor's Office launched a bribery investigation project on the 21st. Prosecutor Liu Zhiwen directed the task force. Armed with search tickets issued by the Taichung District Court, the soldiers searched three locations in three directions. They arrested two people, including Zheng Boqi and Yang Zhuangjiao, and seized cash. 15.26 million in gold, 69 bird's nest gift boxes and other items. After the interrogation, it was found that the two people were involved in voting bribery and other crimes under the election recall law, and that there were sufficient facts to prove that they were in danger of colluding with accomplices or witnesses and destroying evidence. They successively applied for detention and were prohibited from communicating with each other.

The Taichung District Court subsequently ruled that Yang, surnamed Zhuangjiao, should be detained without permission, and Zheng Boqi posted a bail of NT$100,000. After Zheng was released on bail, he reported that he was safe. He mentioned that his mother was worried about what happened to him, which made him very sad. He also thanked the outside world for their concern and emphasized that he was back safely. He also called out the injustice and pointed out that the whole incident was "completely false." He emphasized that it was the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and Taiwanese people have a habit of giving gifts. The gift box involved was given to people who interacted with him on a daily basis.
