وقالت شركة أمازون، في بيان، حصلت CNN بالعربية على نسخة منه، إن "التقارير التي تشير إلى أن أمازون تنقل عملياتها الإقليمية من الإمارات العربية المتحدة إلى إسطنبول غير دقيقة". وأضافت: "لا تزال الإمارات العربية المتحدة وتركيا من الدول ذات الأولوية بالنسبة لأمازون، ونحن مستمرون في توسيع نطاق أعمالنا والاستثمار فيهما".

وكانت شركة أمازون قد أعلنت في مايو/آيار الماضي، عن "التوافر العام لـ AWS Local Zone جديدة في إسطنبول، لجعل البنية التحتية أقرب إلى المستخدمين النهائيين، مع تمكين المؤسسات من تلبية متطلبات أماكن تخزين البيانات ونسخها احتياطيًا محليًا".

وأشارت أمازون في بيانها آنذاك إلى أن "AWS Local Zones هي عمليات نشر للبنية التحتية تعمل على توسيع الخدمات الأساسية، مثل الحوسبة والتخزين والشبكات وغيرها لتكون أقرب إلى المناطق الحضرية في جميع أنحاء العالم. وتتوفر في أكثر من 30 منطقة حضرية حول العالم".

وفي 1 سبتمبر/أيلول الجاري، أعلنت أمازون أن "أول منطقة للبنية التحتية السحابية لـAWS في المملكة العربية السعودية سيتم إطلاقها في ديسمبر 2026". وأضافت أنها ستوفر بالتعاون مع شركة "هيومين"، المملوكة لصندوق الاستثمارات العامة، "قدرة تصل إلى 50 ميغاواط في أول منطقة للذكاء الاصطناعي في المملكة العربية السعودية بحلول عام 2028".
