2025 political party subsidy usage report released, total expenditure is 35.7 billion yen

On the 25th, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications released a report on the use of political party grants for 2025. The total expenditures of the 12 political parties decreased by 3.0% from the previous year to 35,772 million yen. Of this amount, political activity expenses, including election-related expenses, increased by 2.5% to 18.621 billion yen, while ordinary expenses decreased by 8.3% to 17.15 billion yen. Political activity expenses were affected by the House of Councilors election held in July 2025.

By political party, the Liberal Democratic Party spent the most at 18.336 billion yen. This was followed by the Constitutional Democratic Party (7.78 billion yen), the Japan Restoration Party (3.082 billion yen), and the Komeito Party (2.891 billion yen).

The total balance of the fund, which represents savings, at the end of 2025 decreased by 17.3% to 20.364 billion yen.
