Kuomintang Kaohsiung mayoral candidate Ke Zhien's Qishan Miaokou concert was supported by former green camp figures. Xu Guotai and Luo Zhaohong appeared on the platform.

KMT Kaohsiung mayoral candidate Ko Chi-en held a "Temple Concert" at the Zhufeng Temple in Qishan last night (4th). Two former green camp figures showed up to support him, including the 80-year-old DPP founder Xu Guotai and former assemblyman Luo Zhaohong. Ko Chi-en told voters, "If the KMT does not do well, the people can use their votes to teach them a lesson; if the DPP does not do well, why not?"

Xu Guotai served as a legislator in the first and second terms and is the brother of former Democratic Progressive Party Chairman Xu Xinliang. However, in recent years, he has been criticized a lot for the DPP's governance. Luo Zhaohong served as a Kaohsiung County Councilor for two terms before switching sides in 2018 to support Han Kuo-yu.

In his speech, Xu Guotai reiterated that the original intention of the Democratic Progressive Party in its early years was to take care of the disadvantaged and grassroots people, but now it has long forgotten its ideals. Four years ago, he helped Ke Zhien stand up. Ke said at the time that whether she was selected or not, she would continue to work hard in Kaohsiung. Seeing Ke Zhien fulfill her promise in the past four years, he is even more convinced that she is an outstanding talent who is willing to do things and can be trusted.

Ke Zhien took to the stage and shouted that the Democratic Progressive Party back then was full of ideals of "corruption, diligence, and love for the country," but now it has completely deviated from its original intention. Whether it is the accumulation of garbage and waste in Ma Tou Mountain, or the environmental damage in the Meinong Grand Canyon, the DPP has turned a blind eye. The good soil in Qishan and Meinong has been destroyed and indiscriminately cultivated, and is transported out by the truckload to make huge profits. Countless garbage and waste are backfilled into the land.

Ke Zhien told the audience, "If the Kuomintang does not do well, the people can use their votes to teach them a lesson; if the DPP does not do well, why not?" Only the rotation of political parties can break the arrogance of long-term governance and return municipal administration to professionalism; and said, "The new trend is about money and pockets, but I am about the next generation!"

Ke said that she did not have a big faction or luxurious resources behind her. She relied on stepping into the market step by step and meeting the villagers face to face. She also declared that "if she does not do well, she will step down in four years." This is the highest spirit of democratic politics. It also proposes to increase the points of the Elderly Care Card to 1,000 points and expand the scope of use; significantly increase the Double Ninth Festival gift money; plan to subsidize elders over 65 years old to receive free skin snake vaccine; and provide 48-hour "breathing coupon" subsidies for a year to childcare and long-term care families to reduce the burden on caregivers.
