A reporter asked: Recently, Chairman Qiu Chuizheng of the Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council said that the mainland is promoting the strategy of "exercising jurisdiction before reunification" against Taiwan through four major means: "internalizing administrative and judicial jurisdiction, adopting the one-China principle in the international system, applying national treatment to Taiwanese people, and integrating development of outlying islands with mainland coastal cities." Taiwan's position is to insist that Taiwan's future must be jointly decided by the 23 million Taiwanese people. Any comment on this?

Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian responded to questions and said that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory. The historical and legal fact that both sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to one China cannot be changed, and the historical trend that the motherland will eventually be reunified and will be reunified is unstoppable. Taiwan's future and destiny can only and must be jointly decided by the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people, including Taiwan compatriots. The DPP authorities stubbornly adhere to the separatist stance of "Taiwan independence", refuse to recognize the "1992 Consensus" that embodies the one-China principle, and deliberately interfere with and obstruct cross-Strait exchanges. This completely violates the mainstream public opinion on both sides of the Taiwan Strait for peace, development, exchanges, and cooperation, and is opposed by the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

She said that our principles and policies towards Taiwan are clear and consistent. We will firmly adhere to the one-China principle and the "1992 Consensus", resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and external interference, continue to promote cross-strait exchanges, cooperation and integrated development, enhance the interests and well-being of Taiwan compatriots, and firmly promote the process of reunification of the motherland.
