Kinmen Shuitou Port Tourism Center’s 10,000-ton terminal opens to welcome the first 1,000-ton return ship

Kinmen's new Shuitou Port Tourism Center "10,000-ton Terminal" was opened today, welcoming the arrival of the 1,000-ton "Kinmen Express" for the first time. The ship was carrying 240 Kinmen folks from Taiwan who returned home for a reunion during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Deputy County Mayor Chen Xianglin said that this is a second option for the county government to rent passenger ships outside the air transportation corridor to provide folks with a return home for reunion, with a single ticket price of 500 yuan.

Different from the previous festivals where most of the special rebate ships were parked in Liluo Port area, the county government cooperated with the overall transportation and port operation arrangements, so the special rebate ships were parked at Shuitou Wharf; the Kinmen Express with a total tonnage of about 1,200 tons was parked in the spacious ship seat , it is easy to move forward and back. It is not only the ship with the highest tonnage berthed since the newly-built Shuitou Port was put into trial operation on February 3 and opened on August 3, it is also the first time that a ship has docked at the pier in the port area, which is said to be able to accommodate "10,000-ton cruise ships".

Chen Xianglin said that there were 240 passengers on the express ship this time. According to the passengers' feedback, the entire flight went smoothly and they felt good. This is the second way home provided by the county government for the folks in Taiwan. He hopes that in addition to the air transportation capacity, he can also use sea transportation to return home for reunion.

A fellow surnamed Huang who lives in Chiayi said that he couldn't book a cash-rebate flight ticket a week ago. He originally wanted to take the "Blue Que" high-speed ferry from Chiayi's Budai Port, which only takes 4 hours, but canceled it due to insufficient passenger numbers. In the end, he chose the Kinmen Express from Taichung. Although the flight takes about 11 hours, he was almost there in Kinmen after "sleeping" anyway. The overall feeling was "okay".

The county government said that the one-way fare of the Taijin Express Ship is NT$500 for general passengers. For the discount program, only NT$100 is charged for insurance for children under 6 years old and seniors over 80 years old; NT$300 for those over 65 years old, those over 6 years old and under 12 years old, those with student ID cards, people with disabilities, and caring companions. Low-income households are free of charge.

The county government said that it was originally worried that the return trip time would be affected by the typhoon. After continuous control and the typhoon turning north, the return trip (Kinmen to Taichung) will still return from Kinmen Shuitou Port at 12 noon on September 28. There are still vacancies.
