CSMS presented the AI service “Lotsia” for searching for fish

The Center for Fisheries Monitoring and Communication System presented at the IX International Fisheries Forum and Exhibition of the Fishing Industry, Seafood and Technologies the “Lotsia” service, which uses artificial intelligence to help in fishing. This is stated in a message on the website of Rosrybolovstvo.

The development uses satellite and oceanographic data, data on catches and fleet performance to provide forecasts for fisheries in specific areas. It allows you to quickly find promising areas of fish aggregation, and this reduces the time and financial costs of commercial exploration.

“Lotsia” evaluates water temperature, thermal fronts, currents, salinity, oxygen levels, wind, wave height, cloudiness, fog, moon phases and other parameters that normally require separate analysis. The result is issued in the form of specialized cards.

The head of the CSMS, Alexander Mikhailov, emphasized that the service does not promise a guaranteed catch, but only shows in which places, taking into account the available data, the most favorable situation for a particular type of fish lies.

To date, the service is in test mode supporting the fishing of saury, saury, pollock, Pacific cod, and herring. The results of the experiment are not reported.
