The Moscow City Court transferred Major General Sergei Malkov to house arrest

The Moscow City Court transferred the former deputy head of the GUMVD for the Moscow Region, Major General Sergei Malkov, from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest in a case of fuel theft, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports from the courtroom.

On September 7, the Moscow Meshchansky Court arrested Malkov for two months.

“To change the resolution of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow on choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention... Select a preventive measure in the form of house arrest against Malkov,” the judge announced the decision.

Malkov participated in the meeting via videoconference; today he will be released from custody, the decision has been sent to the pre-trial detention center.

Lawyer Sergei Gurov asked to release the major general under house arrest. He pointed out that in the case there was only one report from the senior representative of the Department of Internal Affairs, which was drawn up on the basis of a purchased vacation ticket “outside the Moscow region, not outside the Russian Federation,” because of which the arrest was chosen. He also noted Malkov’s impeccable service in the authorities for 40 years and listed his awards, including the Order of Alexander Nevsky and “For Services to the Fatherland”, II degree.

The investigator announced during the meeting about two new criminal cases initiated against Malkov on September 22.

Earlier, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk, reported on the identified facts of theft of motor fuel belonging to the Moscow region headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The defendants are charged with misappropriation or embezzlement on an especially large scale (under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

In the case, the court also arrested the former head of the center for economic and service support of the main directorate (TsKhiSO GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Moscow Region, Colonel of the Internal Service Alexei Suyarov, and the ex-head of the department of the FKU TsKhiSO GU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Moscow Region, Lieutenant Colonel of the Internal Service Anna Levina.
