Family denounces that child was hanged by teenagers in civic-military school in DF

A family from DF reports that an 11-year-old student was hanged by two teenagers at a civic-military school, in Brazlândia, last Thursday (3).

The case happened at Centro Educacional 02 in Brazlândia. Teenagers reportedly hanged boy in uniform.

The case is being investigated by the Civil Police.

A family from the Federal District reports that an 11-year-old student was hanged with his uniform on by two teenagers inside Centro Educacional 02, a civic-military school in Brazlândia, last Thursday (3).

The victim is a 6th year student and studies in the afternoon. The teenagers who allegedly attacked the boy are in the 7th and 9th grades.

The family's complaint was registered at the 18th Police Station, which is investigating the case as a bodily injury and an infraction committed by a teenager.

The family says the boy returned from school with marks on his neck and back. The teaching unit reportedly said that the case was a “joke” by the students.

In a statement, the Department of Education says that, "according to the management team, the students involved received the appropriate disciplinary measures."

According to the family, the child has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

According to the victim's mother, the attacks occurred in supposed retaliation, after the boy reported that his classmates were smoking inside the school, in addition to other previous episodes of bullying.

On the 3rd, the boy went to school to take the Basic Education Learning Monitoring Assessment (Amaeb), the day the attack occurred.

The family also says that there was an omission on the part of the school management, who did not immediately inform the parents about the attack, nor did they call the Military Police or medical assistance. The school would have kept the student isolated in a room to complete the assessment.

"We want to know why they didn't notify the family. Why, at the time of the attack, they didn't take the appropriate measures", says the boy's aunt.

The family says they were called to a meeting at the school, this Tuesday (8). The management said the case was a "joke" and the family decided to transfer the student.

"According to the management team, the students involved received the appropriate disciplinary measures. The Brazlândia Regional Education Coordination (CRE) became aware of the case last Thursday (3), and is monitoring the case. The transfer of the student to another school unit has been made possible, as requested by the student's mother.

The State Department of Education of the Federal District (SEEDF) does not condone any form of violence in the school environment and that occurrences of this nature are dealt with through measures that preserve the integrity and safety of students."
