Musiala suffers from so-called absence seizures

Musiala spoke out on social media on Tuesday evening: “I was diagnosed with temporary, short-term but easily treatable absences, which can be traced back to a neurological dysfunction. These can lead to the moments that have recently occurred, like against Leipzig or now in Heidenheim.

The French word Absencen means something like “absence” in German. This was the case for Musiala in both games, when he briefly appeared to be out of touch on the pitch. Absence seizures are a form of epileptic seizures.

In his statement, Musiala further wrote that he was “under good medical treatment and very optimistic.” FC Bayern and his private environment are always at his side and support him on this path. “The important thing is that there is no additional health risk,” he wrote in his Instagram posting. According to the club, Musiala's appearances in the two games had previously been cleared by a doctor and were completely harmless.

However, the club did not say what will happen to the offensive player in the next few days and weeks. It is therefore unclear whether he can be used in the Supercup next Saturday against Borussia Dortmund or at the start of the league six days later against VfB Stuttgart.
