South Korea denies promise of military aid to Ukraine in exchange for the release of North Korean soldiers

South Korea made no promises to provide military assistance to Ukraine in exchange for the release of two North Korean soldiers. This was stated by MP from the South Korean People's Power Party Yu Yong Ha, citing data from the country's National Intelligence Service, Reuters reports.

“Ukraine did not put forward any preconditions for the transfer of two North Korean prisoners of war (...). Zelensky may have announced the transfer of the North Koreans because he hoped it would increase public support for providing arms and other aid to Ukraine in South Korea,” he said.

The politician added that Ukraine has not yet apologized or expressed regret over the disclosure of confidential information.
