Fire damages substation in Berlin-Tiergarten – police are investigating

In Berlin, a substation was slightly damaged by a fire. The emergency services were alerted early in the morning, the police said.

In the Bissingzeile in Berlin-Tiergarten, “a construction site and part of the substation burned, which were damaged by the fire.” The criminal police are now using the operator to determine whether a crime or a technical defect has occurred. The power supply is currently not affected.

In the past few days, attacks have been carried out on substations in Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia, and shortly afterwards several explosive devices were discovered at two substations in Saxony. "They were supposed to cause damage to the electrical high-voltage lines by causing a short circuit," said the security authorities. The explosive devices were “homemade.” Specialists from the State Criminal Police Office defused them. There was no actual damage or impairment of the power supply.
