"Atlanta was a wonderful venue. The FIFA Fan Fest was a success, more than expected. Everything was more or less concentrated in that region. The difference we see in Brazil is... They said it's football, we'll see parties everywhere" says professor Paula Rodrigues Pontes.

The official registration of interested parties on the FIFA website began this Thursday (3). They will go through a selection process to fill around 6,000 vacancies for volunteers in the eight host cities of the World Cup.

"My family is from Belo Horizonte, I'm from BH. Let's do this Minas Gerais thing of making everyone fall in love with cheese bread. But, if you choose to go somewhere else, it's up to you. Travel, stay, etc", explains Paula Rodrigues Pontes.

In total, there will be 32 teams and 64 matches, including the final, on July 25th, at Maracanã, with the Women's Cup at stake. Among the volunteers, the competition is for the trophy for the best hospitality.

"Especially when the headquarters are in Rio de Janeiro. We always pull the sardines our way", jokes Lívia Beatriz de Almeida.
