Reaction from Palestine to Israel's 'E1 Project' tender

In his written statement, Palestinian Presidency Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeyne reacted to Tel Aviv's announcement of a new tender date for 2,167 houses for the illegal "E1 Project", which was planned to be established by usurping Palestinian lands in the east of East Jerusalem and caused international reactions.

Abu Rudeyne emphasized that Israel's plans to build new settlements and opening tenders in this direction are a dangerous escalation that violates international law.

The Palestinian Spokesperson said that the fact that the Israeli authorities continue to open tenders within the scope of the "E1 Project" shows that they openly defy international decisions and continue the policy of imposing a colonial fait accompli in the field.

"The E1 Project poses a threat to efforts to ensure stability"

Stating that the "E1 Project" threatens the integrity of Palestinian lands, Abu Rudeyne said that the plan aims to undermine the possibility of the realization of an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital by creating new de facto situations, and therefore the continuation of the plan in question poses a direct threat to efforts to ensure stability in the region.

Emphasizing that these steps of Israel will not give the occupying power any rights or legitimacy over the Palestinian lands, Abu Rudeyne stated that the fait accompli policy will not create a new legal situation and will not change the fact that the occupied Palestinian lands are subject to the rules of international law.

Abu Rudeyne noted that Tel Aviv's continuation of the "E1 Project" simultaneously with the increase in settlement activities and Israeli attacks in the occupied West Bank has dragged the region into further tension and instability.

Yesterday, Israel announced a new tender date for 2,167 houses for the illegal E1 settlement project, which was planned to be established by usurping Palestinian lands in the east of East Jerusalem and caused international reactions.

It was reported that the Israeli administration planned to build 3 thousand 401 new houses on the Palestinian land seized in occupied East Jerusalem within the scope of the "E1 Project". While the tender was opened for 1234 of them in August, the tender date for the remaining 2 thousand 167 was announced yesterday and it was announced that it would be held on October 25.

"E1 Project" that will expand the occupation in Palestine

Israel had launched the "E1 Project" to connect the "Maale Adumim" Jewish settlement, built near the Palestinian neighborhood Ayzeriya, which was historically a part of East Jerusalem but remained in the West Bank part of the Separation (Shame) Wall, to the road leading to West Jerusalem.

In this context, 12 thousand acres of Palestinian land were seized in 1999 to build thousands of illegal residences and hotels in the region.

The Israeli administration had frozen the "E1 Project", which was said to prevent the establishment of the State of Palestine, due to pressure from previous US administrations.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the "E1 Project" in September 2025, which will effectively divide the occupied West Bank into two.

With the "E1 Project", Israel aims to de facto divide the West Bank into two and cut off the connection between occupied East Jerusalem and the Palestinian lands in the West Bank.

The Israeli government, in violation of its commitment regarding the "E1" Jewish settlement project, published the first tender announcement for 1234 houses without prior notice to the objecting parties.

The tender announcement for 1234 houses published by Israel within the scope of the E1 illegal Jewish settlement project caused international reactions.

Some Western countries, especially England, decided to ban trade with Israeli settlements that usurped occupied Palestinian lands as a reaction, while others declared their intention to do so.

In response, Israel decided to close the British Consulate in Palestine, located in occupied East Jerusalem, to remove British representatives from the Civil-Military Coordination Center in Kiryat Gat, to stop Britain's activities for the training of Palestinian Authority forces in the occupied West Bank, and to ban the entry of 12 British citizens, most of whom were MPs, from entering Israel on the grounds that they were "involved in anti-Israel activities."
