Flamengo takes provisional leadership of the Brasileirão after victory over Remo

Flamengo has assumed - for now, provisionally - the leadership of the Brazilian Championship. On Sunday afternoon (6), under heavy rain, Rubro-Negro beat Remo 1-0 at Mangueirão, in Belém, in the 26th round of the competition. Rádio Nacional broadcast the duel live.

The result took the Rio team to 54 points, surpassing Palmeiras, who are still on the field in this round. Later, from 6:30 pm (Brasília time), Verdão visits Botafogo at the Nilton Santos Stadium, in Rio de Janeiro. The São Paulo team has to win to return to first place, which it has occupied since March - coincidentally, when it beat Glorioso 2-1, at Nubank Parque, in São Paulo.

The third defeat in a row, in turn, keeps Leão Azul with 23 points, in 19th and penultimate place in the Brasileirão. The team from Pará is in the relegation zone, which brings together the four worst campaigns in the competition, the so-called Z-4.

The first half saw Flamengo impose itself on the attacking field, at times with Remo placing itself with ten outfield players in defense. In the fourth minute, Pedro received the ball from fellow striker Samuel Lino on the left and crossed low. Midfielder Jorge Carrascal appeared to finish in the small area, but the ball went over the top.

Leão Azul had a great opportunity at 26. Almost at half-moon, midfielder Patrick sent Gabriel Taliari on the right. Defender Léo Pereira slipped and the attacker was in front of goalkeeper Agustín Rossi, but he took a long time to act and was disarmed. Peixe took the lead after seven minutes, with Gabriel Barbosa. The attacker took advantage of defender Félix Torres stepping on the ball almost in the middle of the field to run towards the area and open the score.

Gabigol himself expanded at 28, with a penalty from Matheus Bahia against the Santos number 9. The full-back was sent off. Ten minutes later, midfielder Benjamin Rollheiser crossed from the left and midfielder Christian Oliva scored the third, with a header.

Inter tried to react in the second half. After two minutes, full-back Braian Aguirre took a long shot and hit goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão's angle, discounting Santos' advantage.

At the end of the game, in the 44th minute, midfielder Miguelito committed a penalty against striker Vitinho. Midfielder Bruno Henrique sent it into the net and kept the team from Rio Grande do Sul alive in the match, but without managing to reach a draw.

With 32 points, Santos distanced itself from Z-4 once and for all, opening seven points to Internacional itself, which occupies the 18th and third-to-last position. Colorado has the same 25 points as Vasco, but Gigante da Colina has one more victory and is ahead, in 17th, opening the relegation zone.

Cruise sticks to the G-5

At Mineirão, in Belo Horizonte, Cruzeiro got the better of Athletico-PR and won 2-1. Raposa had 42 points, in sixth place, and remains on the heels of the G-5, as the group of teams that are qualifying for the Libertadores, which includes the top five placed, is called. In the 29th minute of the first half, Gerson crossed from the left and fellow midfielder Matheus Pereira scored into the net, putting Cruzeiro ahead.
