Mirassol beats Coritiba and leaves the relegation zone; Vasco and Inter remain at risk

The first game this Sunday (6) for the Brazilian Championship guaranteed that, at least in this 26th round, there will be no changes in the relegation zone, which encompasses the last four positions (the Z-4).

Better for Mirassol, who beat Coritiba 2-1 at Couto Pereira. Worse for Vasco and Internacional, who were rooting for a setback for the team from the interior to have a chance of overtaking them.

The triumph took Leão Caipira to 28 points, still in 16th place, the first outside the Z-4. Cruzmaltino, with 25 points, lost to Fluminense on Saturday (5) and was rooting for the São Paulo team to defeat by two goals so that, despite the stumble in the classic, they could stay ahead on balance.

Inter is still playing in the 26th round. Later this Sunday, Colorado hosts Santos at Beira-Rio, in Porto Alegre, at 4pm (Brasília time). The Gauchos can match Mirassol's score, but will remain behind due to the number of victories, therefore, still in the relegation zone. The team, at most, will surpass Vasco if they score against Peixe.

Turn to São Paulo

The goals in Curitiba all came in the second half. Coxa took the lead in the 15th minute, with Pedro Rocha deflecting a cross from fellow striker Fabinho, out of reach of goalkeeper Alex Muralha.

Mirassol didn't take long to equalize. Three minutes later, full-back Igor Formiga shot from the edge of the area on the right and striker Gustavo Mosquito surprised goalkeeper Pedro Morisco by appearing in the middle of the way and completing the goal.

In the 29th minute, Coritiba found the net again with full-back Felipe Jonatan. The goal, however, was disallowed with the help of semi-automatic offside technology, which identified defender Maicon's irregular position in the play.

The team from São Paulo defined the score in the 38th minute, with Bruno Santos. The attacker received it from Igor Formiga on the right, left defender Rodrigo Moledo's marking and shot Pedro Morisco's corner.

In stoppage time, Coritiba had a penalty awarded to Rodrigo Moledo. After reviewing the play on video, referee André Luiz Policarpo Bento saw that the defender fell in the area after tripping over defender Bruno Melo - from his own team - and canceled the penalty.

Relief for Leão Caipira fans, who won again away from home after more than four months. Coxa, in turn, remains with 37 points, losing the chance to get closer to the Libertadores classification zone (the G-5), which brings together the five best campaigns and which has Bahia in the limit position, in fifth, with 43 points.

Tricolors at party

On Saturday (5), Fluminense defeated Vasco 1-0 at Maracanã, in Rio de Janeiro, with a goal from midfielder Lucho Acosta, 15 minutes into the second half. Tricolor, with 45 points, remains in fourth place, 20 points ahead of its rival.

Gigante da Colina is at risk of finishing the round in second-to-last place. This occurs if Inter scores against Santos and Remo beats Flamengo in another game that starts at 4pm this Sunday, at Mangueirão, in Belém, broadcast live on Rádio Nacional - Leão Azul has 23 points.

Another tricolor to win yesterday was São Paulo, who defeated Atlético-MG 2-0 at Morumbis. The team from the capital of São Paulo reached 33 points, three less than Galo, who saw an unbeaten run of 14 matches come to an end. Striker Luciano and full-back Iago, both in the final stage, scored the São Paulo goals.
