Galatasaray's 121st anniversary was celebrated; MHK and league statement from Dursun Özbek

Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek, vice president Metin Öztürk, board members Can Natan and Ömer Sarıgül, council chairman Aykutalp Derkan, Galatasaray High School Principal Mustafa Reşat Dabak and names from the yellow-red community attended the commemoration ceremony held at Ali Sami Yen's grave in Feriköy Cemetery.

Making a statement to the press at the ceremony, Dursun Özbek stated that they started the celebration activities by visiting Ali Sami Yen's grave, as always, and said, "We are on the 121st anniversary of the founding of our club. We will visit Ali Sami Yen and lay a wreath at the Atatürk Monument in Taksim. From there, we will go to the high school and continue our celebrations. Therefore, I remember with gratitude our elders who brought Galatasaray to where it is today. And everyone who contributed." I send a big thank you." he said.

Dursun Özbek stated that all teams in the Trendyol Super League are assertive this season and said, "There are always difficult and easy periods of the fixture. There are no easy matches in the league this year. Everyone is very assertive. Everyone is working to become champions and maintain their place in the league. It will be a challenging season. This season is of great importance for Galatasaray Club. We want to get our 5th consecutive championship in the league this season. We also want to reach the 27th championship. Our goals are big in Europe, too. We want to exceed our success there, too, last year." he said.

Referring to the situation of the National Football Team, Özbek said, "We are among the national team. Yesterday's defeat of our national team and the results of the previous matches saddened us. Therefore, we are now waiting for what attitude the federation will take on the issue. Because the results were far below expectations. I hope we will achieve better results in the coming matches." made his assessment.

Dursun Özbek stated that they will return to league matches with the Kasımpaşa match to be played on Friday, October 9, and said, "After the Kasımpaşa match, we will face Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. We are entering a difficult period, but Galatasaray has always known how to overcome these difficult periods. I still think it will be so." he said.

"Leagues will start in a week, but there is no such thing as MHK"

Dursun Özbek said that they have always called for the change of the Central Referee Board (MHK).

Expressing his views on the arrest of MHK President Ferhat Gündoğdu, Özbek continued as follows:

"As the Galatasaray Club, I and our other members have always expressed our opinion about MHK in club statements. We have always said so. We have constantly called on the federation to change. We wish it would not have happened this way. If we had taken timely action and made this change in time, we would not have encountered a chaos that we do not need today. The leagues will start in a week, but there is no such thing as MHK. The president, the referee... We, as a club, saw this situation long ago and said it. We made statements from the club, but no one "There is silence in the federation. Will they continue? They need to come out and say what they will do. Statements made in the prosecutor's office are coming out. How will the management be shaped in the next period?"

Noting that silence is not a good sign, Özbek said, "We will play the match on Friday. MHK does not have a president. He is under arrest. As the statements of the referee, who is important to MHK and the federation presidency, and who usually manages the derby matches, are exposed, events that no one will like come to light. Therefore, the events must be clarified as soon as possible. If the league is to be suspended, it will be suspended. I think this issue should be addressed without entering into similar discussions again. Silence is of no benefit to anyone." he said.
