30 million lira drug fraud operation based in Gaziantep: 8 detained

Under the coordination of the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an investigation was launched by the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch Directorate teams into the crimes of 'Aggravated fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations' and 'Forgery of official documents'.

THEY CAUSED APPROXIMATELY 30 MILLION LIRA DAMAGE TO THE PUBLIC

Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that the suspects, who were determined to have irregularly issued prescriptions for drugs subject to doctor's approval and prescription between 2022 and 2024, secretly sold the prescribed drugs to third parties for money and in this way caused a loss of approximately 30 million lira to the public.

It was determined that the suspects were employees of some private hospitals and pharmacies operating in Gaziantep. The teams carried out a simultaneous operation against a total of 8 suspects, 7 in Gaziantep and 1 in Aydın, at 06.30 yesterday morning. 8 suspects were caught and detained during the operation.

The suspects' procedures at the police station are continuing.
