Gen. Mirosław Bodnar dismissed as commander of the drone troops. Criticism of the Ministry of National Defense

Onet's interlocutors indicate that the ministry was not satisfied with the way General Bodnar manages the drone troops. The military officer failed to effectively complete the tasks entrusted to him. The problem is both the small number of unmanned aerial vehicles in units and the lack of a comprehensive concept for the development and use of drones in the Polish Armed Forces. Sources indicate that General Bodnar did not have adequate knowledge about drones to hold such a high position. They also point out that General Mirosław Bodnar is the brother of former Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar, and his nomination was political. Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz was said to have sought to be awarded the rank of general.

The general came to us and said that he was looking for inspiration from us. Our hands dropped. After all, he was supposed to present us with a vision of the development of drones in the army - said one of the non-commissioned officers about cooperation with General Bodnar.

As a result, Polish soldiers still cannot sufficiently practice operations using unmanned systems. Meanwhile, the experience of the war in Ukraine shows that drones have become one of the most frequently used means of combat.

The Ministry of National Defense assures that Bodnar will fulfill his tasks

At a press conference at the border crossing in Dorohusk, the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, was asked about Bodnar.

General Bodnar completed the task assigned to him. At this stage, the actions he committed to have been fulfilled, he assured.

He added that Bodnar would continue his career in Brussels. He will cooperate there with General Piotr Błazeusz, who is our main representative to the European Union and NATO. He will be there to provide support. I will appoint a new commander of the drone troops in the coming hours, he emphasized.

Mentzen comments on the planned changes

Sławomir Mentzen commented on the matter in a post on the X platform. He repeated the information presented by Onet. "The general had no idea about drones, but his brother was Justice Minister Adam Bodnar, so the most important qualifications were the same. We wasted two years of drone development because of a political nomination!" – he wrote.
