FAB locates wreckage of helicopter carrying singer Rick in Urubici (SC)

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) released images of the moment the team found wreckage of the helicopter in which singer Rick was traveling.

The images show the view from inside the cabin of the SC-105 Amazonas plane that located the missing helicopter. In the videos, it is also possible to see the FAB helicopter, the Black Hawk, which helped in the search.

Bodies of accident victims will be taken to Florianópolis

The region where the wreckage was found has areas that vary between mountains, plains and dense forest in Urubici. Now, the team focuses on recovering the bodies.

Due to the difficult access region, the removal will be done aerially, using ropes. After removal, they will be taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Florianópolis, where they will undergo expert examinations.

FAB made 13-hour flyover to find helicopter wreckage

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) flew over regions of the municipality of Urubici, in Santa Catarina, for 13 hours to find the wreckage of the Bell 430 helicopter.

With information about the location of the aircraft, the FAB tracked the passengers' cell phone signals detected by telephone towers in Serra Catarinense, which helped identify the search area.

The Brazilian Air Force used an SC-105 Amazonas aircraft to fly over the town of Vacas Gordas, Santa Bárbara and Morro Agudo, in the municipality of Urubici. When the wreckage of a helicopter was identified, another aircraft was called to collaborate with the search closer to the location.

Singer Rick's partner was invited to fly in a helicopter that crashed, but decided to travel by car

Olívio Beltrão, partner of singer Rick, from the duo with Renner, had been invited to travel on the helicopter that crashed in the interior of Urubici, in the Serra de Santa Catarina. He, however, decided to travel by car.

The group, including Olívio, had a lunch scheduled for 12pm at a winery in São Joaquim, with the presence of the city's mayor.

"As I live in Palhoça [in Greater Florianópolis], I decided to go up by car. I said: 'I'm going early, let's go'. I like traveling by car. Rick still insisted that I come with them, but I think these are things we are subject to in life", he said, shortly before the aircraft was located.
