Gianni Di Vita returns to the police station to deliver electronic devices as part of the investigation into the deaths from ricin poisoning of Sara and Antonella

Gianni Di Vita, father of Sara Di Vita and husband of Antonella Di Ielsi, who died last December from ricin poisoning, returned today around 1pm to the police station to spontaneously hand over an electronic device. The former mayor, father and husband of the two women killed by ricin poisoning in Pietracatella in December, remained inside the offices in via Tiberio for only a few minutes. He had left just half an hour earlier after signing the documents relating to the searches carried out in the morning in Campobasso and Pietracatella.

The interrogation in the afternoon

During the afternoon of today, September 29th, a new interrogation of Di Vita took place at the Campobasso police station. The former mayor of the town arrived at the offices in via Tiberio at 6.10pm. It is the third time today that he has walked through the door of the police station, even though he is not registered in the register of suspects. Di Vita then left around 6.30pm after having delivered two computers from which, according to what we understand, all the data will have to be copied.

The search in Pietracatella's study

According to what emerged, the man was taken to the police station exclusively to sign the documents relating to the operations carried out this morning. According to qualified sources, the searches in these hours would have been ordered after, in recent days, investigators had collected new elements considered significant to clarify the case. In fact, it would not have been a question of generalized searches, but of activities aimed at acquiring specific material, such as documents or IT devices. Before the search carried out in the Campobasso office, the agents searched another Gianni Di Vita office in Pietracatella, located right in front of the family home. The men of the Campobasso flying squad, led by Marco Graziano, remained inside for only a few minutes and left around 9am. It is not clear whether they seized any material or whether they instead carried out other targeted activities. Di Vita was also present at the first search carried out this morning. The accountant, former mayor of the Molise town, arrived and left together with the agents. The studio is not under seizure, unlike the house. Di Vita, at the moment, is not registered in the register of suspects in the case opened by the Larino Prosecutor's Office for double murder.

A bag belonging to Di Vita's wife was also taken

During the searches this morning in Gianni Di Vita's studios, a bag belonging to Antonella Di Ielsi was also seized, with some personal effects inside. The flying squad agents also took other material or documents but no details are yet known on this.

"The judiciary intended to follow up the evidence search activities through searches of some rooms and properties available to the entire Di Vita family and not just Gianni", reported Vittorino Facciolla, Gianni Di Vita's lawyer, commenting on the activities carried out this morning by the Flying Squad and the SCO in Campobasso and Pietracatella. "The aim is to ascertain through the search a series of activities that Antonella, Sara, Gianni or Alice could have carried out". "Everything needed in the search for the truth leaves us calm, we don't have to worry about having to chase the news or reach easy conclusions. Our attitude is always the same as we had from the first moment: to be collaborative by making available everything that is asked of us. This is what we are doing and this is how we will continue to do", concluded the lawyer.

Investigations on seized devices

Meanwhile, yesterday the investigations into the computer and ten pen drives seized last July 31st from Gianni Di Vita began at the Campobasso police station. The prosecutor of Larino, Elvira Antonelli, has appointed specialized personnel from the SCO to extrapolate the data contained in the electronic devices. The parties could also participate in the operations: suspects, lawyers, offended parties and consultants. However, only Gianni Alfonso, IT consultant of the lawyer Vittorino Facciolla, the lawyer who assists Gianni Di Vita, showed up. The Prosecutor's Office asked to verify, among other elements, any relationships and links that can be linked to online searches aimed at obtaining ricin by the two victims, as well as data relating to relationships with family members, relatives and friends. The checks also concern any notes on the foods consumed in the days before the illness, any documents, or notes on possible illnesses and contents such as chats, photos, voice recordings, emails, social accounts and data on the locations of the devices. The time span of the research is very broad, ranging from the first switching on of the devices to the day of their last use. The time set to complete the work is 60 days unless extended.
