Google launched the application page for the 'right to be forgotten' in Türkiye

Google launched a new application in Türkiye and launched an application page for content that is requested to be removed from the search engine.

Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) President Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir said that with the new application, Google has to respond within 30 days whether this information will be removed or not.

Stating that being remembered has become a rule with the development of technology, Bilir said, "Even if we forget, search engines, especially Google, do not forget. This means that information published about us in the past constantly appears and people are disturbed by it." he said.

“MUST ANSWER WITHIN 30 DAYS”

"When you search on Google with a person's name and surname, there is information about the person from 15-20, even 40 years ago." Bilir said and continued:

"- And people are disturbed by the constant visibility of these news. They want their names and surnames not to be visible through search engines and they want them to be removed from the index.

- Google opened a box specifically for Türkiye. You enter the information you want to be removed and within 30 days it must inform you whether this information can be removed or not. "Later, upon Google's response, if the response is negative, an application is made to the institution and the board evaluates it."
