GP Azerbaijan: pole position for George Russell, Antonelli eliminated in Q1

George Russell took pole position at the F1 Azerbaijan GP. The Mercedes driver preceded Charles Leclerc's Ferrari. Second row for Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and Hadjar (Red Bull).

Qualifying for the Azerbaijan GP ended already in Q1 for Kimi Antonelli, who at the end of the session hit a wall while cornering, damaging the front left suspension of his Mercedes. The world championship leader said he wanted to continue, but the team explained to him via radio that the damage cannot be repaired in the short time remaining until the start of Q2. Antonelli will start 16th in tomorrow's race.
